Many of our local supporters may be surprised at the size of the area where we provide our services in an effort to alleviate furniture poverty. We provide essential furniture through our referral process across six council areas including Stratford upon Avon and West Warwickshire, Redditch, North Cotswolds, Malvern Hills and Wychavon DC.
Approximately 50% of all of the referral furniture deliveries to individuals and families in financial need take place in the Wychavon Council area. The next busiest area is Malvern Hills which accounts for approximately 25% of all of the furniture deliveries. A large proportion of the donated furniture used in the referral deliveries is collected within the Wychavon area, within 8-10 miles of our Blackminster base.
On Tuesday 17th May Peter Andrews the Roundabout Manager was a guest speaker at the Malvern Hills District Poverty Alleviation Summit hosted by the District Council.
Peter said ‘As part of our strategy to ensure we are meeting the demand for our services it is important we engage with existing stake holders and also take the opportunity to engage with other service providers who may not be aware of Roundabout.
The theme of the summit was how we can collectively reduce instances of furniture poverty and the attendees were from a myriad of different organisations both statutory and from the voluntary sector. It was recognised how important Roundabout’s contribution is in tackling this ongoing issue’.
